Editorial Fashion Story

The past few months I have been learning about fashion photography. It is a different world working with high fashion models, stylists, makeup artists, and hair stylists on every photoshoot. I found that it is a lot to plan, but the images are very rewarding afterwords. I learned a lot and have found that I actually really like fashion photography. This is an editorial fashion story that I did. Model: Kate Compton. Styled by: Yuka Iwasaki and Mia Cirelli. Makeup artist: Melissa Sandoval. Hair Stylist: Whitney Willison.

Thinking outside the Box

Being creative and thinking outside the box it hard to do sometimes but it always fun and can be very rewarding. I was experimenting with an idea during this photoshoot. My lovely model, Holly, went in a freezing cold pool in January for me while I photographed her swimming in different bathing suits. I owe Holly for being so sweet while being frozen. :-) This idea is a work in progress, but we had so much fun during the photoshoot.

Fine Art

The past couple months I have been working on a fine art photography collection. This style of photography is very new to me, but I had so much fun putting this collection together. Every person I worked with on this was so wonderful and brought a different personality to my pictures. Things I learned during this experience:
1. I love fine art photography!
2. For a photographer there is the work that makes you money, and then there is the work that makes you happy. Always take the time to do something for yourself. Make pictures that mean something to you.
3. Take a break from the technical part of photography and be creative and artsy. Try something new. Example: I printed one of my portraits black and white and then hand colored it in using pastel pencils. It turned out great and its one of a kind.
4. Try using textures in your editing.
5. Find someone that inspires you. Jennifer Hudson is my inspiration. Look at her photography at www.jenniferhudsonfineart.com. I saw her pictures in a gallery in San Francisco. They are amazing!
6. Have fun :-)

Wedding Photography

This past weekend I shot my first wedding photoshoot. It went great!!! It was a small civil ceremony at the Santa Barbara courthouse on a beautiful day. The couple was so cute and by looking at their faces, you know that they are in love and are going to be very happy. I got some great photos of the beautiful couple. I really like photographing weddings and hope to pursue it more. So if you are getting married or know of anyone getting married, please give them my name because I would love to take more wedding pictures and get the experience.

Baby Photoshoots

Now that I have a few baby/children photoshoots under my belt, I have come to find that I love taking pictures of babies and I am very pleased with how my pictures are turning out. I thought that I might like taking pictures of babies because I love kids, but I also thought it might be very hard, which it is, but the end results are worth it.
