Fine Art

The past couple months I have been working on a fine art photography collection. This style of photography is very new to me, but I had so much fun putting this collection together. Every person I worked with on this was so wonderful and brought a different personality to my pictures. Things I learned during this experience:
1. I love fine art photography!
2. For a photographer there is the work that makes you money, and then there is the work that makes you happy. Always take the time to do something for yourself. Make pictures that mean something to you.
3. Take a break from the technical part of photography and be creative and artsy. Try something new. Example: I printed one of my portraits black and white and then hand colored it in using pastel pencils. It turned out great and its one of a kind.
4. Try using textures in your editing.
5. Find someone that inspires you. Jennifer Hudson is my inspiration. Look at her photography at www.jenniferhudsonfineart.com. I saw her pictures in a gallery in San Francisco. They are amazing!
6. Have fun :-)

Wedding Photography

This past weekend I shot my first wedding photoshoot. It went great!!! It was a small civil ceremony at the Santa Barbara courthouse on a beautiful day. The couple was so cute and by looking at their faces, you know that they are in love and are going to be very happy. I got some great photos of the beautiful couple. I really like photographing weddings and hope to pursue it more. So if you are getting married or know of anyone getting married, please give them my name because I would love to take more wedding pictures and get the experience.

Baby Photoshoots

Now that I have a few baby/children photoshoots under my belt, I have come to find that I love taking pictures of babies and I am very pleased with how my pictures are turning out. I thought that I might like taking pictures of babies because I love kids, but I also thought it might be very hard, which it is, but the end results are worth it.

Cute Baby Photoshoot

Yesterday was my first successful baby photoshoot with a little girl that just turned 1 year old the other day. Happy Birthday Sophia!!!! She was so cute and on her best behavior for the photo session. She was content with just sitting and playing with her toys in front of the camera. Things that I learned was to always be goofy, bring bubbles, play music, and never forget the magical light up bouncy ball. She was mesmerized by the light up bouncy ball and would follow it with her eyes. I will defiantly bring that to my next baby/child photoshoots!

For the past few month I have been doing an Internship for Season's Magazine, a local Santa Barbara magazine. I shot many pictures on location and products for the magazine. It was a great experience, stressful at times, but I learned a lot. The magazine went to press and finally it was released a few days ago with my photos in it. Check out my first editorial exposure!!!

Why did I start a blog?

I am just getting into the photography world and one thing that people keep telling me is marketing! Sounds scary. So one step at a time I am trying to market myself in hopes that I will be able to make a living with this career path. I started marketing first by making a website (which if your reading this hopefully you have already looked at, if not, go right now), second is to make business cards and start passing them out, and third is to make a blog. I heard that in this day in age every photography should have a blog because that is the new big thing to do. So here I go, making my first blog and hopefully one day someone will be interested enough to read it. So I am making a goal to keep blogging one blog at a time to see where it gets me in life. :)
